Profile of the School Of Studies :
Establishment : Established as Centre in 1984 for implementation of UGC Program on literacy for Adults. Programs, like Adult Education, Center for Literacy Program, Population Education, Planning Forum, Each One- Teach One, Area Development Approach, Jan Shikshan Nilayam and Continuing Education Courses were conducted with percent UGC grants by this centre. Later on it was elevated to a department in 10th 5-year plan. It became School of Studies (Teaching Department) in the Year 2000 as per the UGC guidelines.

Recently in 2012, it has been renamed as Institute of Advance Studies in Education (IASE) and received financial support from H.R.D and Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Govt. of M.P. Bhopal.
Activities Undertaken :
Teaching : This School is running Post Graduate programs in Extension education & Social Work as well as in Education. M. Phil Programs in Education and Sociology are also operational in this School.
Research Center : The Institute is a recognized research centre for Ph.D. students in the subjects of Education, Extension Education, and Social Work. At present Many students pursuing their Ph.D. work under the supervision of Faculty members.
Extension Activities : Institute organize various activities, Seminars, Workshops, Field Visits, Training programs and Counseling for Community development, awareness about knowledge, improvement of skill and change in behavior of the students, teachers, parents, community peoples and different development agencies who are working in the field of community development of the nation.
Teachers Training : Under centrally sponsored scheme of teachers training of H.R.D., Govt. of India under the supervision of R.S.K, Govt. of M.P. Bhopal, this institute has been given the responsibility of teachers training, monitoring and educational research activities, besides other academic programs of teachers training colleges of Gwalior, Chatarpur including District Education Training Institute (DIET), Gwalior, Morena Bhind, Shivpuri, Datia, Ashoknagar, Guna, Sheopur, Chatarpur, Damoh, Panna, Sagar and Tikamgarh.
Future Perspective :
  • The institute is planning to start B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses from coming session.
  • Community College: The institute had submitted a proposal to start community college under the UGC scheme during last academic session. In this Scheme, Institute has proposed to start Advance Diploma course in Printing Technology and NGO Management from coming session. The UGC has sanctioned the course on Diploma in Printing Technology to this University. The institute is going to start this course from this academic session 2015-16.
Placements of the Students : Different NGOs working in the field of community development, awareness, child and mother care, extension program, health and nutrition, environmental pollution and other social work activities. Govt. hospitals, mental hospitals, agriculture college, training centre for human resources development, woman empowerment, social welfare, human rights department, multinationals and limited companies, worker welfare department, labour welfare department, teaching department and other related Govt. departments, co-operative societies and rural development programs. Our Students are well placed in these organizations.

M.A. Extension Education and Social Work : (Two Years/Four Semester)
Objectives of the course :
To provide skilled/trained and sensitive manpower to the society, who can bring about a change in the society/community so as to make them able to understand their rights and responsibilities by improving the quality of life through literacy, post literacy and skill oriented professional courses and short duration training.

Moreover, to focus on adolescent age groups (male and female both) to equip them with moral responsibility towards society, develop their sensitivity for disadvantaged groups of society and to make their vision more clear about their future plans.

To provide the opportunity to the students and community people to solve their personal and family (Socio economic and other related) problems through counseling /guidance and helping them in different ways.
Eligibility : Graduate from any faculty with minimum 50% marks.
